What We Offer

Hosting

NOTS is grateful for the churches in our community host our warming center during the coldest months of the year. Their support helps ensure that our unhoused neighbors have a safe place to sleep each night. As we continue our winter rotation, we are currently seeking another partner to join this effort and host the warming center for an upcoming month. If your community is interested in supporting this life-saving program, we would love to connect.

Volunteers

Join our team of compassionate volunteers making a difference in the lives of Carson City’s unhoused neighbors. Whether helping at the warming center or supporting year-round outreach efforts,   your time and kindness bring warmth, safety, and hope to those who need it most. Supporting our Guests

NOTS supports its guests with compassion, dignity, and hope. More than just a warm, safe place to sleep, the Warming Center offers connection, a listening ear, and guidance toward stability. Guests are welcomed without judgment and provided access to essential services, including referrals for housing, employment, and healthcare.

Our Goal is Safety

At NOTS, safety is our highest priority. We maintain consistent guidelines, supportive staffing, and clear communication to ensure a calm, respectful, and welcoming environment for our guests, volunteers, and the surrounding community. Everyone who enters our doors deserves to feel safe, supported, and treated with kindness.

Community Testimonials

Collen "Coco" Crum

"This year, I’ll be helping connect our guests to services they need to find housing and improve the quality of their lives. I have learned that even donating socks is a big deal for our guests who may walk miles every day. One night, we did not have enough socks for everyone who needed a pair. One of our guests gave his new socks to another guest. He said he could get by with his slightly worn-out socks for another week or so. That’s why I volunteer for NOTS. The guests make me a better person. "

"Getting to know the guests as human beings is also very meaningful. Many of them have interesting lives, many quite different from mine which gives me plenty to think about. Many of the guests and volunteers serve as role models to me in terms of compassion, generosity, and acceptance."

"I come to the shelter because I feel I'm

safe. I don't worry about sleeping in my car or being afraid. It's warmer and all the

people working there are nice and friendly. they say, 'hi' to me and we talk about things."

"Joe"

"Thanks to NOTS, even at the lowest point in my life, when I have been in greater need than ever before, I have had so many wonderful people help me. I know that through the hearts, and generous actions of others that I am not alone. NOTS has been the difference between hopelessness and hope!"
